From a young age art was a constant passion in Karen’s life. Especially art focused on nature. Her appreciation for nature’s beauty was sparked in Karen’s home state of Alaska.
Attended two art colleges on scholarships and a color theory workshop by Richard Nelson, Maui 1993.
I received some school awards for my work as a young teenager, but never really pursued art seriously during my school years.
Studies with Master Artists in France, England, Spain and Holland.
The interpretive quality of my work is impressionistic in approach; either alla prima or layered by glazing and scumbling.
Kimana is also an instructor with the organization “Art Adventure” that focuses on the development of the artist within all of us.
I must give homage to strokes. Whether it be pastel, watercolor, oil or any other medium. There are miserly strokes. There are rich, fluent, ardent strokes.
