Maui happy hours are a lovely way to pause between a beach day and dinner. A table with a view, something good to share and a drink you enjoy can turn an ordinary afternoon into the part of the trip you remember.
Choose by neighborhood, setting and what you’d like to eat as well as the discount. Check the restaurant’s menu before heading out, especially around holidays, and ask where its happy-hour offers apply.
Planning Maui happy hours by area
Choose a stop near the rest of your day. Wailea works after a South Maui beach afternoon. Maʻalaea can fit after an aquarium visit or harbor trip, while Pāʻia makes sense when you’re already on the North Shore. There’s little pleasure in racing across the island for the last few minutes of a discount.
The times below come from the restaurants’ published menus. Ask which tables qualify, when the kitchen stops taking happy-hour orders and whether the offer applies on your date. A restaurant’s regular menu may be available at different times.
South Maui: Wailea views and familiar favorites
Monkeypod Kitchen, Wailea
10 Wailea Gateway Place. Published happy hour: 3:30–5 p.m., except select holidays.
Monkeypod has been a perennial hit since opening its Wailea doors in 2011. Peter Merriman’s restaurant brings together craft beer, cocktails and dishes with an emphasis on regional ingredients. The lively setting suits a gathering with friends as much as a vacation meal.
The current Wailea menu lists half-price appetizers with seafood exceptions, selected pizzas and discounts on draft beer, wine by the glass and culinary cocktails. The familiar mushroom pizza and roasted chicken wings still give you reasons to look beyond the drinks.
The happy-hour menu lists $16 pizzas, excluding the Bourgeois, with other offers applying to selected items. For more about the setting, see our Monkeypod Kitchen Wailea review.
Gather on Maui, formerly Gannon’s
100 Wailea Golf Club Drive. Published happy hour: 3–5 p.m.
The elevated ocean view is part of the appeal at Gather on Maui, overlooking the Wailea golf courses.
It’s a good candidate when you want an afternoon table with a broad South Maui outlook. Use Gather’s current happy-hour menu to choose your food and drinks. For background on the venue, our Gannon’s restaurant story describes its time as Gannon’s.
Maʻalaea and Waikapū: harbor and mountain settings
Havens Harborside Fish & Chophouse
300 Maʻalaea Road. Confirm the current happy-hour window directly.
Havens Harborside offers a laid-back yet refined setting at Maʻalaea Harbor. Locally inspired dishes and harbor views make it a convenient place to unwind after exploring Central Maui.
The restaurant’s menu page currently lists happy hour from 3–4:30 p.m., alongside a separate off-season all-day-menu notice. Those details deserve a quick check before you build an afternoon around a particular offer. Ask which menu is being served and what specials apply that day.
A fish sandwich, local beer or shared appetizer may fit your plans, but look at the current choices before ordering. Our Havens Harborside review covers the restaurant in more detail.
Café O’Lei at the Plantation, the former Mill House setting
1670 Honoapiʻilani Highway. Published happy hour: 3–5 p.m.; current restaurant hours run Tuesday–Sunday.
The lush grounds of Maui Tropical Plantation and dramatic West Maui Mountain views made The Mill House a memorable stop. You can enjoy that setting at Café O’Lei at the Plantation.
Check its current happy-hour menu for small plates and drinks, and note the operating days before driving to Waikapū. For a look at the pondside setting, our Mill House restaurant review describes dining at this property before Café O’Lei took over.
West Maui: Kāʻanapali afternoons and evenings
Barefoot Bar at Hula Grill, Kāʻanapali
2435 Kāʻanapali Parkway. Published Aloha Hour: 2–4 p.m. in the Barefoot Bar.
Sand underfoot, the ocean nearby and the open-air setting at Whalers Village make Hula Grill an appealing place to slow down. Its current menu page lists Aloha Hour separately from regular Barefoot Bar service.
Use that specific Aloha Hour menu for the available bites and drinks. If you’re choosing between the dining room and the beach bar, ask which seating area offers the specials before you settle in.
Myths of Maui at Royal Lahaina Resort
Myths of Maui is a ticketed luau for a full evening rather than a happy-hour bar. Its location is at Royal Lahaina Resort in Kāʻanapali, not in the heart of Lahaina town.
Choose it when you want an evening built around a meal and performance. Check your ticket’s current inclusions, arrival time and seating package. Don’t compare the ticket with the cost of a single discounted drink. Our Royal Lahaina luau seating guide explains the general-admission and VIP decision.
North Shore: Pāʻia afternoons and a Kūʻau splurge
Milagros Food Company, Pāʻia
3 Baldwin Avenue. Published happy hour: 3–6 p.m. daily, inside and on the lanai.
With its corner location in downtown Pāʻia, Milagros Food Company draws a steady, buzzy crowd. Southwest flavors, margaritas and people-watching are still the reasons to consider it for a North Shore afternoon.
The current website lists selected beer, house margaritas, Mai Tais and wine, plus a changing food special. Look at today’s offer and ask about the food special before choosing what to share.
Café des Amis, Pāʻia
42 Baldwin Avenue. Published happy hour: 3–6 p.m.
Café des Amis has a relaxed, colorful atmosphere. Its garden setting and mix of Mediterranean, French and Indian dishes give the outing a different feel from a big resort bar.
Check the drinks list and current discount directly. Ask what the current offer includes before ordering. Our Café des Amis review offers more about the restaurant and its food.
Mama’s Fish House, Kūʻau
799 Poho Place. Plan this as a restaurant visit rather than an advertised discount stop.
Mama’s Fish House makes a drink with a view feel like an occasion. Its tropical surroundings, seafood and cocktails can make a meal memorable, but that doesn’t establish a happy-hour promotion.
The restaurant’s official website emphasizes advance reservations and seasonal menus. Book through its current official reservation channel or call directly. Don’t assume a walk-in bar seat will be available, or that a cocktail called Pau Hana is discounted.
Closed and Changed Restaurant Locations
Beach Bums is no longer an outing option at 300 Maʻalaea Road. That harbor address is now home to Havens Harborside. Don’t make plans around an old Beach Bums menu or schedule.
Kimo’s Restaurant in Lahaina remains closed after the 2023 fire, according to its official website. Follow the restaurant’s own rebuilding announcements rather than a surviving menu or reservation link.
What Ales You Tap House isn’t included among the operating recommendations above. For a Kīhei afternoon, choose a currently operating venue and its own menu rather than a former taco-night or happy-hour listing.
Make the afternoon work for your group
The best Maui happy hours fit the people at the table. Check food choices, dietary needs, seating and parking as well as the discount. A zero-proof drink or shared snack can be just as good a reason to join in.
Pick one area, leave room in the afternoon and arrange a sober ride if you’re drinking. Then let the view and the conversation do their part. For a different kind of dining search, our Taco Tuesday on Maui guide focuses on tacos and the specials worth checking.
