Looking for rainy day activities in Maui? When a beach afternoon gets washed out, Wailuku has two very different ways to keep your group entertained: solve a mystery together or jump until your legs are tired.

We’ve always been thrilled to see indoor businesses pop up on Maui. While the island is known for its outdoor activities, it’s useful to have a plan for an afternoon when you want to stay inside. These two options work for different moods, so choose the one your group will enjoy rather than trying to squeeze both into the same day.

Choose Your Rainy Day Activities in Maui

Pick Mystery Maui if your group likes clues, stories, and working together. It’s a private, timed game, so everyone needs to arrive ready to participate. Pick Ultimate Air Trampoline Park if the kids have energy to burn and would rather move than solve puzzles.

Think about the people who won’t take part, too. An escape room is a shared team experience. At a trampoline park, some family members may prefer to watch while others jump. Ask about seating and any access needs before booking either activity.

For a quieter alternative, we’ve spent plenty of afternoons at the always lovely Maui Ocean Center in Māʻalaea. Choose the outing first, then check its current calendar before building the rest of your day around it.

Mystery Maui: A Team Challenge in Wailuku

You don’t have to be a seasoned detective to enjoy Mystery Maui. You’ll uncover clues and try to solve the mystery within the 60 minutes you’re allotted. If you need a little nudge in the right direction, your game marshal can help.

We suggest this escape room activity for a date night, a memorable girls’ night out, or a chance to have fun and build teamwork with coworkers. It also gives wedding parties and friend groups something to do together away from the beach.

Who Can Participate?

The operator currently lists private games for two to six players, with at least one adult age 18 or older required in every group. Contact the team about larger parties. Consider the room’s tone as well as the children’s ages: Stella Superstar has audio effects that some younger players find unsettling.

Check the room descriptions and explain the experience to younger children before you reserve. A child who enjoys helping spot clues may have a different afternoon from one who wants to run around. Ask the staff about your group’s needs rather than assuming every room will suit everyone.

Pick Your Mystery and Plan Your Arrival

The escape-room booking page is linked here from our original visit. You can also use the current calendar on Mystery Maui’s main website to choose an available game. Its featured stories include a pop superstar planning a private concert and a chef who’s gone missing from his ramen shop.

Arrive 15 minutes early for your briefing. The entrance faces the Wailuku Garage at the back of 81 North Market Street. Mystery Maui is closed Mondays; check the calendar for actual game times on other days. Call (808) 249-2062 with booking questions.

For more about the experience itself, read our Mystery Maui escape room review. This guide helps you choose an afternoon activity without giving away the puzzles.

Ultimate Air: Rainy Day Activities in Maui With Room to Move

Ultimate Air Trampoline Park gives your group a very different kind of indoor afternoon. Our original visit introduced us to plenty of space to jump around, practice balance, hit the foam pit, dunk basketballs, play games, and work on dodgeball skills.

It has been serving Maui since 2018, so we’re happy to retire the old description of it as the island’s newest indoor activity. You’ll find it at 21 Laʻa Street in Wailuku.

Check Jump Times and What You’ll Need

Jump socks are required. The website currently lists a $25 general-admission one-hour pass and $4 socks, with other passes and kamaʻāina rates available. Check current hours and pricing before you go.

The current posted open-jump hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Toddler Time is listed separately on selected mornings. Check the day’s schedule, especially if you’re planning around a younger child’s nap or a flight.

Every jumper needs a waiver, completed by a parent or legal guardian for anyone under 18. Jumpers are separated by age or size, and staff may move them between zones. Tell the team about any access needs before visiting.

Reservations and Extras

Though walk-ins are accepted, capacity is limited, so it’s best to reserve the time you’d like to jump. Our original ticket link and online waiver link are retained here. If either older link doesn’t open, use the Buy Tickets and Online Waiver buttons on Ultimate Air’s main website.

Keep an eye on Ultimate Air’s Instagram page for event announcements and holiday happenings. Call (808) 214-JUMP with questions about the schedule or your group. Don’t assume the special sessions mentioned in our 2019 post are still offered.

You can watch the video from our original visit or read our Ultimate Air Trampoline Park review for more of the experience. Just don’t blame us when your legs are sore the next day.
